Comparing Three Types of Digital Tools

Voyant can be useful to understand how many particular words or phrases were uttered. Kepler_gl can help with trying to understand not only how many interviews were conducted but where. Palladio can offer the relationship between the persons involved and where. All three types of digital tools discovered can offer a new way of interpreting the Slave Narratives.

I learned with the Voyant tool that certain words were used more often than others. Then I could take those list of words and input it into the Kepler_gl tool to find out where on a map. Then I can use Palladio to understand the relationship between those words, the interviewer/interviewee, and the place. These sequence of events can help me as a researcher understand why, where, and who those words were spoken and I can use that in a historical context to understand why that was. Why did they use those words how can that help paint the picture of how slaves lived and interacted with their enslavers?

Digital tools like these three can be used to learn many things about the data involved.
