Mapping with kepler.gl
Kepler.gl is a mapping software that lets the user import data and filter based on what they wish to see. I had a decent experience using this tool. The user needs to make sure that any data that they have is put into the correct format and in an Excel spreadsheet. Then upload the data, add layers to filter by, add filters and play around with the software. With this tool one is able to see the relationships of the topics based on where they were located and how often that city was mentioned. Here are some photos of the activity that I completed:

Voyant Tools 2.0 Review and General Guide
Working with the Voyant tool was fairly simple. I imported data from an Excel spreadsheet and then analyzed it based on what I wished to filter on. I did feel limited in what I could use the tool for though. I wanted more ways of analyzing the data besides a somewhat static way of looking at the text. But this type of modeling did its job by providing me with text analysis of what I imported. I was able to discover how many times a word was used or some basic level of relationship analysis.

Why Metadata Matters
Using this example from the JSTOR database, Equilibrium in the Jungle: The metadata describes the object image, title, authors, object type, object’s tags, publisher, and abstract. The metadata of this object does not describe the location or when it was originally published. It allows me to ask why this item was digitized, what was its importance? I believe that metadata is important because it gives the user more information about an object. They can then use it for various reasons, i.e. academic, personal, etc. The JSTOR example references some of the standard metadata fields but I would like to be able to have more data and other ways of viewing the…

Overview Looking at the JSTOR database, it provides digitized searchable historical journals and books. Search The JSTOR database search options are being able to by author, item title, abstract and caption. One can then take those results and filter by item type, language, publication date, ISBN, and journal or book title.
