Comparing Three Types of Digital Tools
Voyant can be useful to understand how many particular words or phrases were uttered. Kepler_gl can help with trying to understand not only how many interviews were conducted but where. Palladio can offer the relationship between the persons involved and where. All three types of digital tools discovered can offer a new way of interpreting the Slave Narratives. I learned with the Voyant tool that certain words were used more often than others. Then I could take those list of words and input it into the Kepler_gl tool to find out where on a map. Voyant Tools 2.0 Review and General Guide
Working with the Voyant tool was fairly simple. I imported data from an Excel spreadsheet and then analyzed it based on what I wished to filter on. I did feel limited in what I could use the tool for though. I wanted more ways of analyzing the data besides a somewhat static way of looking at the text. But this type of modeling did its job by providing me with text analysis of what I imported. I was able to discover how many times a word was used or some basic level of relationship analysis.
