Exploring Your Landscape with Digital Public History
I used the website Clio for this activity. I searched for my hometown and found entries about various people and places that I wouldn’t have known about if I didn’t search this website. It was a great experience to see some of the achievements that my local people did in their lives and where their story connects to a local building. This website uses Google Maps and Google Earth to find the place that you searched for an also to see if in present day. Reading the article, “Implementing Mobile Augmented Reality Applications for Cultural Institutions” by Deborah Boyer and Josh Marcus offers the pros and cons of developing a website into a mobile web application. The article, “Storyteller – World War One: Love and Sorrow – A hybrid exhibition mobile experience” by Timothy Hart and Johnny Brownbill offers the experience of creating a mobile application using Bluetooth technology.
