What Can You Do With Crowdsourced Digitization
Crowdsourcing your artifacts to the public can be a useful way of tackling some of the work that needs to get done for a particular project. With that idea comes a fair amount of planning, preparation, and work to get ready for the outside world’s contributions. This module taught me the importance of not only having a project and artifacts but also choosing the right material for crowdsourcing and making sure that whatever you decide to do, that it is easy on the user to help. Crowdsourced Knowledge: How to Read a Wikipedia Article
Growing up in the early 2000s, I was taught that Wikipedia was not a credible source to be used independently in my papers. I had to use scholarly articles, papers, books, etc. Now in 2018, Wikipedia probably still has that stigma but I think that it is becoming more accepted if at least a reference while conducting scholarly research. When a person living in the past 17 years, wants to find out more information about a topic, say Digital Humanities they Google it. One of the top five results will be a Wikipedia article.
